English Designer Thomas Sheraton, created one of the most stunning tables to this day, widely known as the "drum table" during the 18th century. He fashioned the table after the form of a military drum. Common tables that are found today are "library tables, as well as small lamp tables.</p>
<p>Fred Taylor, a furniture detective sheds light on the commonly found drum table with drawers. "The drawer comes from the English "rent" table. A rent table was a round table with seven drawers that belonged to a landlord. Renters deposited their rent in the drawer marked for the day of the week their rent was due." Often times these tables are found with just two drawers, while the rest are dummy drawers. These tables are some of the most elegant tables that were made.</p>
<p>Many of these tables have false drawers, but you would never know it.  We have a drum table which is positioned in the center of our living room.
