Regency styles followed after the previous style known as Empire Style which was during the reign of Emperor Napoleon. The first Egyptian themes became apparent as Napoleon took over Egypt, and brought back artifacts from Egypt. Napoleon's fascination with the Egyptian themes showed though furniture and especially through architecture. Regency Styles became a continuation of the Empire style where a great interest in ancient Rome and Greece became apparent.
