Steve P"Regency Style" by By Steven Parissien is a comprehensive and stimulating book on everything to do with Regency Style. Parissien's book is a comprehensive survey of the Regency period (1780-1837), when the English interior decoration first emerged as a popular style for both the wealthy and the average house owner. Regency Style traces the history of British styles, as it combined influences of the technological innovations of the day.Parissien also does an excellent job at examining the Regency styled house of England and America. He doesn't miss the opportunity to investigate details of typical homes breaking down the architectural details, colour schemes and furniture for each room. Steven Parissien also pays highlight to key designers as John Soane and Thomas Hope. It is a book worth getting!

Steven Parissien is the Director of Sotheby's Institute, London.   Dr. Parissien has written extensively on Georgian architecture, society and building conservation, including Regency Style (Phaidon Press, 1992), which examined the constituent parts of the Regency House in England and America. His second book, Adam Style (Phaidon Press, 1992), was voted Apollo Magazine's "Book of the Year" for 1992 and the American Institute of Architecture's "Book of the Year Choice" for 1993. To complete the trilogy, Phaidon issued his Palladian Style in 1994. In 1995, Rizzoli issued The Georgian House in Britain and America.

In "Interiors: The Home Since 1700", This book does not deal exclusively with the grand houses of the aristocracy.  Steven Parissien concentrates on the homes of the merchants and middle classes, who have been the first to take advantage of new technologies to furnish and decorate their homes.  Fully illustrated with historical catalogues and books, as well as paintings and photography, this beautiful book covers the period of influence in western Europe and north America.   It is a fantastic book for interior and period settings interior designers.

 The book describes the development of the Georgian style, beginning with its intro in the early 18th century up to the mid 19th century. Chapters are also devoted to each element of the house to help understand the ideas, techniques, and materials employed by the original builders. The most complete study of the historical development and importance of the Georgian style, this book is also a practical guide to preserving and restoring a Georgian house.
