Large walls need large art.  Why not frame a flag?  Emily Henderson from Design Star takes a flag and mounts it on a large piece of wood using upholstery tacks giving it an art worthy presentation.  Consider presenting one over sized flag such as what Emily does or a colorful display of 6 or 9 small to medium sized flags of unique colors for a wall collage.  Consider using thick plywood cut to the exact measurement of the purchased flags, and using brass upholstery tacks, hammer your flag onto the wood.  Brighter tacks in brass or silver finishes can add the beauty of the art.  Basic thumb tacks can produce the same look for less money.  A pair of long nosed curved pliers have been a necessity for me for all my upholstery projects.  The curved nose allows you to handle tacks while hammering them into place.  If you consider painting flags onto stretched canvas or on to furniture, consider purchasing an overhead projector to get a clean crisp look.

Consider hanging smaller scale flags on to the wall either using stretched canvas frames or simple glass frames to achieve the look above.  Complete Flags of the World is a great book to compile your favorite flags from around the world.  You may enjoy the brighter colors such as light blue which is uncommon to find in a flag.  Complete Flags of the World  will allow you go compile the colors you wish to work with.  We have two copies of this book!  It shows all the state flags, and additional hard to find flags from around the world.  Simply photocopy the flags you want and set them into frames.  Check out glass frame lots on ebay and save money putting this look together.
