My Hollywood Regency Buffet MakeOver

Traditional buffets and sideboards are more commonly being repurposed as entry tables, and tv consoles. If the design is right, why not? This typical hollywood regency buffet before was ordinary, but with a coat of white paint and some detail painting, it has been transformed into something very classy and modern. This buffet could transfer over to a cottage styled home, or used in a fairly modern interior. Instead of the traditional gold accents often found with Regency styled furniture, I opted for apple green accents which seemed to be the perfect coordinating color to draw out the beautiful lines of the table. Chinoiserie is a decorative and elaborately painted style reflecting oriental figures and motifs. The process is extensive and often includes gilding and lacquering. Chinoiserie art is applied to interior walls, furniture, and tapestries. Often times the art includes oriental scenery, human figures, intricate lattices, and exotic birds and flowers. From the time of the renaissance to the 18thcentury, designers have attempted to copy the detailed sophistication of Chinese hand painted ceramics with only limited success. Regency styles followed after the previous style known as Empire Style which was during the reign of Emperor Napoleon. The first Egyptian themes became apparent as Napoleon took over Egypt, and brought back artifacts from Egypt. Napoleon's fascination with the Egyptian themes showed though furniture and especially through architecture.
